The author was born in Stevenston, in 1943. He attended St. Michael’s College, Irvine, and studied at Strathclyde University, where he graduated B.A. in Economics.

After university, he joined a cigarette manufacturing company on Tyneside as a management trainee. While working as warehouse manager in Falkirk, he met Ria, his Dutch wife, and moved to The Netherlands where he has lived for the last thirty-four years. He worked for a multinational computer company, then as a freelance consultant in the logistics field. Later he worked for a US company manufacturing high-tech lasers for the micro-processor industry. He remained there till he retired.

He has always been an amateur writer, being a member of various writing groups for many years. Retirement allowed him to spend more time as a writer, which resulted in ‘The Aul’-man.’

He has two sons and five grand-daughters. He lives in Sassenheim, amidst the bulb-fields.
