eglinton

Eglinton School was built in 1876 at the top of Glasgow Street - it closed in the mid-1960s when the new Stanley School opened. Eglinton lay unused for some years and eventually the stones from it were used as infill for a car park at Ardrossan Harbour. Eglinton together with Saltcoats Public were designed by Glasgow architect Alexander Adamson.
