Lovely to hear from you too Hughie. Actually, not Cleveland USA but the North East of England.
I have sent an email with all the information on the Hillans. Let me know if you do not receive it.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday!!

Lovely to hear from you, Sharyn. The connection is there, I have my grandmother's Irish birth certificate and her father Joseph's death certificate.

We're on holiday at the moment and I haven't all the details to hand but here's a link to my McGregg and Hillan ancestors that I know about: http://home.iprimus.com.au/jmccallum/su ... %20McGREGG

Would appreciate any details you have on my great grandmother's Hillan family. Any further information on Patrick McGregg would be appreciated - I'm assuming he died in Cleveland in the USA?
    My email address is hugh.mccallum@gmail.com

    Hi,
I think Patrick died in 1969 in Cleveland age 78. The McGregg's mother Rose Ellen Hillan came from Rathfriland in County Down. Her sister was my great, great grandmother. She married Joseph McGregg whose father William was a butcher. I have more info on the Hillan family if you are interested?
    Best regards,
    Sharyn

    Hi Irene,

Unfortunately that Patrick only lived for a short period. Patricks senior's wife gave birth to a few babies. Unfortunately they only lived for a short period. So I have the following McGregg deaths recorded:

    Born/ Name/ Year died/Place/RegNo/addition

1887 Mary Catherine 1925 38 New Ardrossan 70 Mrs Hand
    1897 Jane Hunter 1967 76 Ardrossan 201 M/S Paton
1889 John 1889 0 New Ardrossan 78 lived for short time
    1890 Susan 1932 42 New Ardrossan 37 Mrs Cunningham
1895 Rose Ann 1916 21 New Ardrossan 80 Mrs Boyce
1931 Margaret 1931 0 New Ardrossan 10 lived for short time
1933 Patrick Joseph 1933 0 New Ardrossan 28 lived for short time
1937 Rose 1937 0 Ayr 271 lived for short time
    1890 Margaret 1972 82 Ayr 806 Mrs Hutchison

Forget to mention there was fourth Mcgregg, Margaret married to a naval Leutenant lived in Ayr and had no children. She was the last to die in 1972 and I never even knew she existed untill about fifteen years ago. :( So as I say there are none left.

Thanks Stevie, Jimmy Lundie was a friend of mine when we were boys. Their backyard was behind what was the top of Busby Drive. Jimmy married my old class mate Jean Black whose aunt sub-let with us at Whitlees Cresent before moving up to Clyde Terrace and next door to Meg Gordon. Amazing the connections that come back to you even after all these years.

Back on topic - My McGregg gran from Newry married a Boyce (my mother's maiden name) her two sisters married into the Cunninghams (auld Paddy)and the Hand family. As I said the name McGregg no longer seems to exist.

Trying to find out what happened to my grandmother's brother Patrick McGregg who married Jane Paton in Ardrossan in 1930.

Jane Hunter McGregg 1967 death District 576 Entry 201
    -----------------------------------------------------
Jane Hunter McGregg, married to (1) John Murphy, dock labourer (2) John
Gall Daniel, marine stoker (3) Patrick McGregg, marine stoker, died on
21-Nov-1967, 2:15am, at 21 Burns Terrace, Ardrossan. Her usual address
    was 20 Central Avenue, Ardrossan.
Jane was born in 1897. Her parents were William Hunter Paton,
merchant seaman, deceased, and Janet Raeside, deceased.

The witness on the death certificate is R. Daniel, son.

Anyone remember this family in Central Avenue, Ardrossan.
Patrick and his three sisters came to Ardrossan from Newry in Ireland.
Any sighting of the McGregg name in Scotland or Ireland would be appreciated.
