On a lighter note - it was the turn of the Primary 3 (7 and 8 year olds) I am taking care of at the moment to put on the Easter show for school and parents - we worked with the music specialist (a wonderful woman) to have this really good song and story Easter show. A week or so into the rehearsals, I got a note frm one of the parents saying that her daughter was getting very upset at her role because her character didn't save Jesus so could we get someone else to play the concious pilot!!!

hi ,Along the same lines,my youngest son had been getting a lesson about Jesus and on the same day being told about man landing on the moon.He came home and told me Nicodemus landing on the moon and Niel Armstrong talking to Jesus.I still kid him on today that Nicodemus was the first man on the moon.Sam.

Thanks for the invite Hughie, I've not been very sociable this year. Hope you are all well and a Happy Easter to one and all.

Being a total heathen, Jamie Stuart is new to me and I'm pleased to inform you that, 6 years after it's first outing, I got a great deal of pleasure from reading that. It puts a whole new slant on the story and managed to hold my interest to the point where I actually fancy reading some more, That's a first for me.

    Easter

    Postby imajrk » Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:22 am

I was listening to "talk radio" as I do every day as I drive from place to place. There was a news item about a state in the US that is now saying that the expression "Easter Egg" is no longer acceptable and I think they said they were to be called "Sphere Eggs". I was so angry, I nearly drove off the road. Why all this hooha about insulting other cultures? My opinion is: if you don't like what we do here, go back where you came from. The next story was about an area in Toronto that is mainly Chinese. They want to change the name of one of the highways because it contains the number 4, which in one of the Chinese languages sounds very much like their word for death. Again, I'm driving along "with steam coming out my ears", and was so relieved to hear the host say that it was ridiculous as they want to re-name the street after some Chinese hero that never did anything for (in this case) Canada. How do these things even get as far as local councils, or Parliament? I feel that the powers-that-be are losing their minds; they get voted in and then all common sense flies out the window. Am I the only one who is sick of all this "politically correct" stuff. I'm an immigrant. I came here and integrated myself into the way of life (which is not really much different from my roots, in my case). I've abided by the laws of the country; have never tried to get laws changed (so that you can wear a kilt with your Schiandu (spelling) to be a Mountie because it's part of my heritage); and would have expected to be laughed out of court if I'd even suggested it. What is wrong with society nowadays? Sorry to rant, but I get so angry that people come to westernised countries for a better life, then want to change everything. I know that back in history we British took over countries and forced our standards on them, so maybe this is just history repeating itself and we are not used to being the ones on the "other side of the coin". Opinions gratefully accepted!!

Noticed today - Good Friday, a religious festival celebrated all over the christian world - Google (I checked most of the world's google sites) has ignored Easter and is displaying Earth Day. Dont know if you remember but on Rememberance Sunday, they had a tiny wee poppy in the corner of the screen - less than lip service.
