I'm thinking I take too much for granted and I should count my blessings more.

Not much more to tell at the moment Ian healthwise. I'm scheduled to go back to hospital on March 1st. for a follow-up appointment with a Urologist & who as it happens is the same Urologist who made the initial cancer diagnosis 3 days before last Xmas. By this appointment the results of the biopsy on the cancerous tumour the surgeon removed from my bladder should be available - that should include what sort of cancer it was & also whether or not I'll require further treatment such as chemotherapy. I hope I don't require chemotherapy as it would mean travelling to Palmerston North hospital which is about 74km east of Wanganui. Transport in that case would be provided free by the local Cancer Society. I also am apprehensive about some of the possible side effects of chemotherapy such as hair loss.

At the moment recovery seems slow. I'd hoped I could make a start by now on mowing both my lawns & Dads but I still get what I can best describe as an uncomfortable belly-ache if I do much physical activity. Last time that happened & I went to my G.P. he said it was just part of the healing process & that I still had to rest & take things easy.

In the extensive literature I got from the local Cancer Society before I underwent surgery it mentions at one point that to share what one is going through can help make what's happening easier to bear or endure. The only family I've got is Dad, a cousin & her husband a few miles from where I currently live plus an aunt back in Selkirk & a cousin in Saltcoats.

I agree with bobnetau and Morag, share with us! The 3T's are just extended family after all, it's just that we're extended throughout the world but we're linked by this wonderful site and always ready to help, listen and support. Post away Bob! Oh, and good luck with the results //perfect

Aye, tis strange being a grandpa for the first time........there's no books on the subject!

Oh, and the most annoying thing about the boiler is that in my pre-wheelchair days I'd have had it stripped down and fixed by now, thanks to the myriad books and internet sources of information that are out there to help me. The boiler is still sitting, sulking, in the corner of the garage and I'm still searching down the back of sofas for the odd half-shilling that might be trapped in there. There's no way I'm opening my wallet..........the notes in there haven't seen daylight in so many years they are liable to crumble to dust in daylight!

Ps; Viv, glad to hear the medication is working! I reckon I couldn't function at all without mine, in fact I know I couldn't after a so-called "expert" decided to try reducing the doses a few years ago...ooow, ouch, ya &^!"*, eeh, oooh! (and words to that effect! )

Yes, keep sharing, especially when you feel low !!

My aunt was in for the chemo recently - but curiously didn't lose her hair?!?!

I know what you mean about meds, BigIan - my dad is on all different meds. (a walking chemist shop) - thyroid, heart tablets, and they don't always get the pills right @ all...... too many patients to see, sometimes, I think.

BTW, I don't know what you have written about the Arran boat in the other section, but it has been catagorised as "violence" by library computers, and I can't read it at the moment.
