    LOOKUP REQUESTED

Postby Jim McCreadie » Mon Nov 20, 2006 8:27 am

    I would greatly appreciate a look-up on the following McCreadie's who were grand-mother, mother, daughter and son respectively;
    McCREADIE, Margaret, mother of
    McCREADIE, Mary, mother of both
    McCREADIE, Mary (b. 28 May 1861, Ballantrae)
    and
    McCREADIE, William (b. 7 Aug 1866, Ballantrae)
As William married in Ballantrae in 1885, it would appear the family resided in or around Ballantrae. I have been pursuing the ladies for some time but have located very little to date.
I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer.
    Kind regards.

    Hi Jim
I did a look up for you and this is what I found
    Shellknowe
    Ballantrae Ayr Scotland

    Margaret McCreadie W 67 Girvan
    Head Domestic Servant

    Maggie McCreadie U 22 Ballantrae
    Grand Daughter General Servant

    William McCreadie U 15 Ballantrae
    Grand Son
    Farm Servant

It appears Wiiliam b 1864 was living with his grandmother Margaret McCreadie and another sister Maggie. Perhaps Mary McCreadie married pre 1881 (change of name) as to the mother Mary McCreadie no sign of her maybe she died pre 1881 leaving children with Margaret McCreadie b1814 who was the husbands of Mary McCreadie and Margaret McCreadie?

    Susie
Please see PM. I have no idea who the husbands were, sorry! Genealogy can be so infuriating occasionally.
    Many thanks.

There were a lot of McCracken families moved from Ireland into South Ayrshire before later going North. One was my Gt grandmother's family on my mother's side who moved North to Ardrossan. Details at : http://home.iprimus.com.au/jmccallum/su ... #McCracken

    Thanks so much Susie.

I'm not sure if that's him or not as I have only very sketchy details.

John, son of John McCracken & Janet McCreadie, married Elizabeth Gibben , [ his second wife] 5th June 1872 in Glasgow.
My grandfather, Robert was born 31st Oct 1885

Hi there, wondering if you could help me, looking for my gg grandparents,
John Murray coalminer, and his wife Margaret Ryan, later Ross, from Saltcoats. I believe they had 3 children, James, dob ?? 1892?? Died in Greenock in 1960 aged 68, Elizabeth *lizzie* and Catherine or Katherine??
As far as I know they migrated to Canada, and then James returned to Scotland.

Would appreciate any help you can give me, new to all this and dont know where to start.
    Kind Regards
    Marion

Hi Susie, just been browsing through the web site and your 1881 cencus caught my eye. I wonder if you could find my great grandfather James Fleming he married Catherine Cook, His father was George Fleming married to Janet Brown. James and Catherine had a son called George born about 1873 in Ardrossan, i am sure there were other children, I would like to find out who they were. Thanks George
