Dont have any photos, but this was the artist impression of the shopping centre before it was built.
It does look as it was though.

It was quite a fancy shop, I think there was a branch in Saltcoats.
The Chinese shop was a restaurant, it might have been called " Lucky Garden" but not sure.
The 2 story section in the artists impression was the location of the social work, criminal justice team.

Bojangles was a great wee shop full of interesting stuff. I could only ever afford one of those big curly straws from it though :). LP, Lucky Garden is still there across the road. I`m 90% sure the one in the precinct was called The Highland Star or something similar. The upstairs bit you mention was the social work office on the right as you say but don`t forget West Coast Videos was on the left. I spent a few nights in there playing the arcade games they had :)

There was a Asian grocer's shop next to the Chinese restaurant, beside the little lane that took you out to the cross.

I'm sure the baker's was Galbraiths, not Park's. I'm certain Park's was in New Street, and incidentally, the owner died this week, aged 72. See obituaries in the ASH section.

GEODGC, I had completely forgotten about the video shop, was that later taken over by " Azad" just a thought.

I don`t remember Azad being in there. They were over at the shops where the wee block of flats sit now next to Potters. Freddy Frew had a fruit shop in the same location at one time although i`m not sure if it was the exact same shop. These were pulled down when they built Kwik Save i think.

It WAS called the 'mayfair". my cousin and i used to love the prawn crackers to carry out from there. All we could afford at the time. i remember the pride they used to take in the restaurant with beautifully laid tables every single evening. sure it was wine in colour inside with all the crisp white napkins laid out.
