I see a street in Saltcoats has been called SPINDRIFT WYND. Is there a connection?

I remember the Spindrift as a lovely varished wooden craft in Saltcoats taking trippers around the nearby bay. Must be a common name 'cause there's a Spindrift berthed in our local harbour here in Oz.

Hi Rab, Hughie Robertson didn't own all the boats .There were quite a few owners .Hughie ,(nicknamed the Bull )had a brother Jimmy (nicknamed the Craw ).In the '50's Jimmy had 2 boats ,cant remember their names.Hughie had as you say the "Spindrift "and I think the "Rose Marie".Mattha Ried and his son Jimmy had the "Diana"and other boats as well. Sheddan ,(nicknamed the Blink) had the "Elsie"John Fleming had the "Morning Star"Old Mattha Ried owned the Spindrift before Robertson had it .Most boats in them days had petrol-parrafin engines, they were started with petrol and changed over to parrafin when they warmed up.In the '60's a lot of them were changed to diesel. In the early '70's Billy Smith had the "Delmar"and Neil Gibson had the "Sea Urchin" Its changed days now ,I dont think there is any boats moored at Saltcoats any more, Sam.

I can remember going with my folks on several occasions for sails around 'the bay' on quite a few of these motor boats but the only name I can remember is the "spindrift"
I would imagine that Spindrift Wynd is named after the motor boat, because at least one other street in that estate has a local maritime connection, i.e. Betsy Miller Wynd.
After doing a quick read of what I had written I had to correct my spelling of Sindrift Wynd ------- I have no idea what goes on on that neighbourhood.
