Find Saltcoats harbour and go east, towards Stevenston, about 300 yards.

Hughie there was a very active swimming pool at Saltcoats. It was previously the salt manufacturing facility (the Salt part of Saltcoats derived from this activity).
All the local schools had swimming lessaons there often in bloody freezing water with the waves smadhing over the was.
Saltcoats of course was a great holiday destination and therefore the pool (as we called it) was packed in the summer. The is a photo in the Noth Ayshire Museum (actually a postcard) of the pool and it has my Brother and friend in it.

Time bloody flies when the pool is now a fuzzy memory to some.

I'm off the bonny Scotland for the 43rd time in 44 years years on 6th June....I'll again walk the streets of Saltcoats in particular memory lane!

    Best Norrie
