I am looking for second cousins called Alister and Jim Pettigrew from Saltcoats. Alister would be aged about 69 if he is alive today and Jim (who worked in the shipyards) a bit younger. Their mother was Mary and their father Alex. I saw Alister with a mother called Mary mentioned here and that it might just be them. A long shot probably.

Hi Kevin and welcome to the 3t's, I don't know if this is of any help . I know of 3 pettigrews from Saltcoats.
Alan, a cleb in the Highland games circuit. John, a guitarist with a popular local band called " The Chase" and Alec/x I remember from school, he's younger that the other 2 and would be in his mid to late 50's.
Someone may come up with more accurate information

I know this may be off topic, but Mary Pettigrew mother of Alistair and Elaine was my Mum's bridemaid at her wedding in 1954.We also lived in Fleming Crescent many moons ago, I think we were number 6 or 8 down the bottom end near Burns Avenue.

Is this the same family of Pettigrew's who lived at the
top of Fleming Crescent at the Dalry Road end? The
family consisted of at least 3 boys to my knowledge,
being David, Alexander and Allan. I worked beside
    Alexander for a while.

    Lynda,
I didn't know there was a daughter in the family. David, the
eldest son died not so long ago as well. Alex worked beside
me in the A & S Herald before he moved to Hunterston. He
moved from there to, i'm pretty sure, the Longannet power
station in Fife but don't know when and pretty sure that he
still stays in that neck of the woods.

    Regards
