    Ken Buchanan.
    Buchanan, born on this day, is a former Undisputed World Lightweight Boxing Champion.
    Many consider him to be THE best Boxer ever to come out of Scotland.

    Fiona Campbell.
    Born on this day in Aberdeen, she went on to represent Scotland in several International matches.
    She held the record for the best bowling innings, for the Scottish Ladies Cricket team, for 5 years.

    AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL.
    John Phillip Wight.
    Wight, died on this day, was an Australian Rules Footballer.
    He was the first person to be brought to Australia in what is known as, "The Irish Experiment".
    He is also regarded, by many, to be one of its most successful products.

    I remember Sean Wight as a great player. I saw him play lots of games for my team the Melbourne Football Club (The Demons) at the MCG.

    In 2011 Wight was diagnosed with lung cancer despite never having been a smoker. He passed away just a few months later.

    Liddell died on this day and to football fans, of a certain age group, he was one of THE greatest players
    ever to have worn the badge of the world famous Liverpool Football Club.

    Valkyrie II.
    The Valkyrie II was sunk, with the loss of one crewman, whilst participating in the Mud Hook Regatta
    on the Firth of Clyde, on this date (and not on the 5th as stated in the link).
    Her sinking came about, after a collision with another yacht, named Satanita.

    6th July 1980.

    Kenny Deuchar.
    Deuchar, born on this day, was a professional Scottish footballer.
    He equalled, England legend, Jimmy Greaves's British record of scoring 6 league hat-tricks in one season.
    He is also a practising medical doctor, earning him the nickname of "The Good Doctor".

    Born on this day, Walker was Secretary of the Scottish Football Association from 1977 to 1990.
    He was also Chairman of UEFA's Stadia Committee for over 10 years.
