I used to dig lug worm in the wee bay or out at the Shell banking in Ard. at low tide.
You can get king rag in Saltcoats harbour, you will need a fork for this area.
I've been told the tackle shop in Countess St. sells bait, not sure of the selection.
You could try Mackerel feathers from the pier or spinning a lure from the rock ledges along past the pier. This method can produce small Coalies and Pollock. No guarantees though Frank.

phazelton78., Your father in law and I were great friends and often went fishing together. He was the biggest bullshitter in the WORLD about fishing and other things but his trophy cabinet must be king sized because no one could hold a candle to him either on the beach/pier or in the boat. Many years ago when I was a fireman I gave him a reference for a job as the local postman, he got the job and that was one of the best things I ever did. Hopefully he is still around and if so give him my best regards.

Hi, Just sent instructions to Ward (at his request) on how to re-activate his account. Hope to hear from him before long.

I've also been meaning to ask on this topic for a while how our big pal Harry Boyce was doing. I seem to recall Harry was into the local sea angling club. Had some nice times with Harry and Jean (my old class-mate) when they came down under. Champion Haggis hurler is oor Jean.

Hi Ward., great to hear from you, I Hope your ill health is only temporary.
I don’t do fishing either, only watch them in my pond, and I live 600 Kilometers from the sea anyway. Fresh water fishing was never an attraction for me.

Hi Alex thank god I don`t live where you are I would never be able to cast that far
Paul and yvonne are trying to get me back into fishing so much so that I went out and bought two new beachcasters
    and Abu 9000 reels.
Now all I need is for the two of them to go dig the bait :? :? :? Was out today looking at some bays south of Ayr
that are very rarely fished and they look quite promising, will probably try them out some night soon.
Hope every thing is well with you and yours.

Hi Ward. Do you remember the night you nearly had the coast guard out for us? When you went to check the boat and found it missing, you cycled over to Dalry like a bat out of hell to get Alex who drove to Ardrossan and when he got there his car run out of petrol and had to siphon the petrol out of our car, then the two of you headed along the coast to see if you could spot us but it was pitch black you couldn’t see a thing.
When Harry and I left Fairlie the weather was fine within half an hour a horrendous storm blew up and there was no turning back. The waves were coming right over the boat or lifting us up and crashing back down again and it took a few attempts to get into the harbour I had never prayed so hard in my life and swaying all over the place when we got off the boat. Harry did well getting that boat in, good job he was in air sea rescue when he was doing his national service.
