There are two ways to achieve the bold effect. Either select the text that you want to embolden and then click the 'B' button (top left on the message editing screen), or simply put the left square bracket, followed by the lower-case letter 'b', followed by the right square bracket at the start of the text that you want to have bold and put the left square bracket, followed by the "/" character, followed by lower-case letter 'b', followed by the right square bracket at the end of the required bold section.
