    long shot

A friend of mine asked me to post this photo with the faint hope that someone would recognise them from their own family pictures. The taller of the two was my friends uncle Francis McEwan but who is the other one? and what team did they play for? My friend is sure that they played for an Ardrossan junior team. The picture looks at first glance as if it was taken at Melbourne park Saltcoats but in fact if you look at the bottom you will see that the back ground screen is wrinkled, so it was taken in a studio.

Francis McEwan's story is tragic in that he escaped being called up for world war one because he worked at the Ardeer munitions factory, his friends who were called up survived the war years, but Francis was killed in an explosion at Ardeer in 1917

So a long shot given the time that has passed since the picture was taken but this site is amazing in what it can turn up.

    Hi.
In the picture the tall man is also my great uncle Francis McEwan my grandfathers brother.
This is the first time I have ever seen him.
I did discover the ruins of the building in ICI where the fatal accident
ocuured ,there were still some parts of the building standing but I think
its all gone now ,since the area has been cleared buy the new owners.
