Firstly, thanks for that information on the bookies in Princes Place. I was unaware of the name Ferguson.
Secondly, I know what you mean when you say Robert Reid's mum had a sweetie shop "across" from the Lyric but technically it was along from the Lyric towards the level crossing. In other words it was on the same side of Princes Street as the Lyric but you had to cross the breadth of Hill Street from the Lyric to reach it.
Thirdly, if you're in touch with Robert and haven't done so already you might want to send him the photos of the Rowanside Terrace 'Coronation Street Party' from this site. He features in two of them, including the one below, and I think Mrs Reid might also be in one.download/file.php?id=312&mode=view
Fourthly, am I correct in thinking Mrs Reid walked with a distinct limp?
