Chris, we called it the Ponderosa but it was actually known as " Seamore House" and it sat adjacent to the chemical raw. I can remember my parents refering to it as the engineers house, my mother was reared in the chemical raw and I suspect it might have been a memory passed down about the iron works. I had a class mate that lived in it when I was in Ardeer Primary. I'm struggling to remember his name, it was Robert Aitkins/ Aitchison or something similar, quite often I was in that house with my pal, I was shocked at the living conditions, it could only be described as derelict. As for a date I'm struggling, the house could well have been there in the early 60's as Jim suggests.
