    Goods Checker ?

    Postby Del 80 » Sat Feb 18, 2012 2:30 pm

On a marriage certificate for one Samuel Allan Clarke, he is given as a "goods checker", it has been suggested that this could have something to do with the railways, or possibly the docks, he lived at 9 Herald Street, Ardrossan, and the marriage was in 1916, anyone got any ideas on this? Regards Del. P.S. Just noticed the lady he married was given as a Dynamite Worker, could it be something to do with that ?.....Del.

Thanks for your reply Unicornheart, I believe that Samuel was wounded during WW1, allthough I cannot find any imformation on this, and also his army records cannot be found, I understand a lot of records were destroyed, it was suggested that I post on here, and see if anyone with local knowledge can shed any light on the subject. Samuel died at Saltcoats in 1978. Regards Del.
