    New Addiction Centre ( Stevenston)

Postby little plum » Sun Mar 25, 2012 8:46 pm

The location is Moorpark Rd West. At one time we had the Caley Station there ( now gone), I can remember sheds for the distribution of lemonade ( now gone) and it was also the site of the "Alpha" sports club ( now gone).
I don't quite get the massive car park or am I missing something here.?

GEODGC, the old folks home closed it's doors a couple of years ago. It wasn't the only one in North Ayrshire to suffer this fate, it was part of the financial cutbacks. It's a clear indicator of the value N.A. placed on it's senior citizens.

Viv, welcome to the welfare state. What gets me is the size of the car park, I've seen supermarkets with less parking space. There is either a large number of staff working there or a large number of drivers in the 3t's with addiction problems.
Och, I feel a Joni Mitchell moment coming on.

I didn`t even know the old folks home was closed :surprised:. I still see people in the wee sheltered housing/supported living part and never even considered that the main bit was closed. I did notice the huge size of carpark and even commented to the mrs that it looked ridiculously large for a care home. I`m shocked that there hasn`t been anything in the local press about this place. I would have thought that the locals would have been up in arms. Strangely enough i was looking at local houses for sale recently and noticed that a cracking 5 bedroom cottage was for sale on Moorpark Rd West at a really good price, now i know why.

That is what I find curious. The lack of local reporting ... I don't remember spotting it in the Ardrossan Herald at all.

My mum's friend lives nearby.... just wait until I tell her later today.... I imagine you will hear her shouting from here to Arran.

Welcome to the Welfare state indeed. What is it about these people with self-inflicted addictions, who get taken by the hand.

I googled this and it may be for addictions but according to NA council website it's called the Caley Court Resource Centre.
Offers services and specialist teams for Independent living, Learning Disability, Mental Health & Sensory Impairment.

SolcotsSue, now I know why the car park is the size that it is. //silent
After reading the links in your post, I'm puzzled about the omission of the addiction centre. :gamer1:

No wonder we're confused. I always thought that the North Ayrshire Addiction services were at the Vernon Centre, Saltcoats.

Moorpark road West may well have an addiction unit within the building, I honestly don't know.

    Ardrossan Herald
why didn't they report it?.....possibly because it would upset both NAC and the Local Labour party ,of whom they lavish such praise

I appreciate people may have addictions problems, but the solution isn't the way the council behaves .........Have a look at the Cross .....or Dockhead Street Saltcoats

so no money for pensioners but loads for druggies

Honest to god the whole place is a toilet
