I was born in Scotland (West Kilbride), went to school in Scotland, (Ardeer Primary and others) and studied at Edinburgh University. Like many Scots I then worked overseas before returning to make a career in the UK. In England.

I therefore have no vote on the future of my native land. I complained about this to my MP (no reply), and to the Secretary of State for Scotland (bland circular saying 'tough'). I have to stand on the touchline and watch. Now that is tough.

Scotland WILL break away from Westminster and England will always lean to the right.
Scotland has had enough of outside tinkering from the cesspit, also known as Westminster.
What England votes, Scotland gets. ONLY Independence can change that and that is a FACT.

One of the reasons my Husband stated for coming back to Scotland was "we will soon be independant" that was 1971.As my future Son-in Law still has a house in Scotland ,but resides in England with my daughter,will they have a vote? I also have other relatives born in Saltcoats living in England .

I can see where you are coming from John, but also can see the reasons people can't in your situation. It's complex.

Personally, I think those who are newly resident to Scotland, should be resident for at least 10 yrs or so and registered to vote. And for those who may have moved outwith Scotland for whatever reasons, should still be able to vote if it's only been about 3yrs since they moved.

Just my opinion, but where would you draw the line. No doubt if it was allowed, we'd be classed as Nationalists or rigging the vote etc. Can't win.

There's many more negative video's regarding Independence & the media on the internet.

That's another thing Scotland does not have power over, Broadcasting.

This video, is good and factual to what is being said or possibly educational in a way.

One of the more morally repugnant aspects of the independence referendum debate is the mind games played by Scottish Unionists and London's media in spreading the myth that Scots are subsidy junkies begging for their next hit at the expense of the English taxpayer.

I'm not into politics and never have, but since this Independence debate I had to stop being ignorant and read, learn, watch & research.

Yes Richard A, I have thought about 'coming home'. But home is here too, near Norwich, where I've lived for over 30 years, raised my children with my Scots wife, and been made so welcome. I can wear my Scotland rugby shirt to the pub and encounter nothing but good humour (and this year a deal of sympathy!) Solcots Sue is right. I have accepted that my wish to vote cannot readily be catered for. I can tell you that if English people were given a vote on whether Scotland should have independence the resounding Yes would deafen Alec Salmond as well as make his day.

I can tell you that if English people were given a vote on whether Scotland should have independence the resounding Yes would deafen Alec Salmond as well as make his day.

I empathise that you cannot vote, but I think you understand why. I agree the English people response would be deafening, but for the wrong reasons. IMHO.

Just shows you we live in Scotland, different issues, views, culture, standards and needs. Therefore, they don't see it as we do. So who can blame them, we give the benefit of the doubt, but the louder we shout/defend the harder we fall and are slated. Well, from what I've been reading around the internet globe.

Therefore, the referendum vote should only go to the scottish people as only they know what they are voting for or reasons behind it. I'm glad the referendum is 2014, as the Scottish voters are only beginning to wake up and start getting interested in this serious debate/decision. Some may not bother until next year, and yet the Coalition wants it beforehand.
