Salcots sue's post states that we would have to pay back the rebates we have received from the E.U.
According to this link we have paid in more than we have received.
With all these conflicting statements how do we know who to believe?

The same goes for independance, do we really know we will be better off?
It could be we are jumping from the frying pan into the fire, and end up much worse off than we are now, who knows?

Sorry Chris, should've said London would have to pay back., hence why I was thinking they wouldn't give us a vote on the EU. Can't remember where I got my information, been reading too many articles, forums on the issue over the past few months.

This article speaks about the EU, Independence & London, but don't think it's the same one I was thinking of.

    Read Here

But it is true that if Scotland becomes Independent, the rest of the UK will be in the same situation as ourselves regarding being a member of the EU, unless Westminster and Scotland agree upon Independence as both being successor states.

Saturday 31st March 1990 seen the largest of several recent poll tax riots/protests take place, in London.
Many believe this was the beginning of the end for Tory leader, Thatcher, who stood down as PM later
that year. Thatcher and her Tory government used Scotland, as usual, as a guinea pig and imposed the
Community Charge (Poll Tax) on Scotland, one year ahead of the rest of the UK.
Thatcher was replaced by Major and he immediately changed the name of the tax to Council Tax.
It was supposed to be based on "the ability to pay" but that turned out to be the usual Westminster lies.
This "new tax" did not take into account, a persons income but it did take into account the value of a
persons property. This Council Tax is STILL a burden around the necks of most Scots today.
EXACTLY 22 years later, to this very day, we still have this Tory Tax and we still have a Tory government
at Westminster. A Tory government that Scotland, yet again, did not vote for.
The only way of making sure that Scotland gets what Scotland votes for is to vote for Independence.

BTW: This was posted on Saturday 31st March 2012 (BST) @12.56am (and not Fri 30th @11.56pm).
Just to clarify any confusion that may arise.

    Re the Poll Tax.

Westminster broke the law when it imposed an illegal tax on the people of Scotland. The poll tax was enforced in Scotland at least 15 months BEFORE anywhere else in the " UK ". This was in direct violation of the Act of Union.

    See forscotland.com.

Also worth a read is the A-Z of Unionist myths on newsnetscotland.

Sorry, don't know how to create the shortcuts, maybe Richard could help with this.

There are many possible link's out there, regarding the Poll Tax.
Here is just 2 of them. Both make for a very "Interesting" read.

I think Scotland should go it alone. I think we would do very well. We have a lot of commodities to offer the rest of the world. We are the greatest little nation of all time. Look at the names we have on the role call of inventions. I live in England now and when some people ask what have the Scottish ever done for us then I recite a list as long as my arm and ask in reply to name a few English inventors. They cannot think of any and if they do they are usually Scottish. My dad was a Scottish Nationalist and so I am. I think Alex Salmon will see us an independent national by 2014 and I think he will be a good leader. He is a briliant economist. So roll on independence that is all I can say. I will be moving back to either Saltcoats (my home town) or Ardrossan (my hubby's home town) when he retires in another 8 years and so would like it to be an independent nation by then.

Just watched this evenings news.

Footage has emerged of Peter Cruddas saying the Tories need to be seen as fighting to keep the Union even if they do not agree with it.

    Read Here

Independence can't come soon enough and I don't trust any Westminster politician. The video footage is not available on the internet yet, but watched it on the TV. :surprised:

On stv news too. Read Here

Makes you wonder what lies, deception or what is being said behind closed politician doors about Scotland and her people. :(
