LP,
It doesn't look that good does it ?
The Irony of it all. They remove a police station and, more or less, in it's place they build this and then stick
the "Criminal Justice Team" in the war memorial, just across the road ?????
Anyone would think that your making this up. Words fail me.
I see where you're coming from, regarding the old Town Councils, and I agree with you, for the most part.
Most people felt they had a certain bond/affinity with their old Town Councils and yes, these people would
have been held accountable, VERY much so. It makes me cringe though, when I hear unionist politicians
(especially Labour), harping on about bringing more issues to a "local level". They've got a bloody cheek, It
was Labour who destroyed the Town Council set-up and in it's place they gave us regional offices that,
in most cases, are as local as a trip to Edinburgh, for a Glaswegian.
It was all done for financial reason's, (apparently it would make massive savings), and it was also meant
to cut-out a lot of red tape ????? Well, I don't see those massive savings being reinvested into their
communities and If anything, things appear more difficult to achieve ?????
Is It any wonder why people like Iain (on the Biodiversity project) are very thin on the ground ?????
People like that, although worth their weight in gold, are pi$$ing against the wind from day one.
I think If you could find enough like-minded people, with a spirit for the fight, to form some sort of "action
group", you might start getting more things done around your area ?
I know that you shouldn't have to be going to these lengths but there is no way that we will ever see the
old town councils back. I know that it seems a bit "citizen smithy" type of an idea but that's what seems to
be needed these days, to get anything done. OR, If you know the "right" people. Wrong but true.
Remember this, Your vote will NEVER, EVER, be as valuable as it is going to be over the next 2 years.
This is a time when action groups CAN & WILL get things done. People want your vote in the referendum.
As I understand it, the previous Labour administration in NAC are responsible for the appearance of that
building ? And yous now have a SNP administration running NAC ? Well, use that to your advantage.
Yous might not get the place pulled down but it is very possible to get it's use restricted to a certain type
of "customer" and the more dangerous elements kept away from the area ? Only a suggestion ?????
Yous do have a vote and It has NEVER been so valuable.
Make that known and be prepared to use It accordingly. Do this and yous might just get somewhere ?
It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.
