Sorry to hear your treatment has hit a "bump in the road" Bob, but looking at the surgeon's background it looks like you are in superb hands and can be as confident as anyone can be about situations like this. You know yourself, the main thing is to keep your chins up and take each day as it comes. Speaking from my own experiences that's the only way I can do it, I don't think too far ahead, concentrate on the here and now and just get on with things.

Anyway, it goes without saying (why do people say that and then carry on talking anyway? ) but we'll all be thinking about you and praying for the best possible outcome for you.

    All the best,

    Big Ian :hi:

When I went to Palmerston North Hospital last Monday, after my talk with the Urologist when he broke the bad news, I saw one of the Ostomy nurses. She gave me a folder of informative leaflets etc, which included a sample bag & an American produced DVD entitled "In Control - Life after your ostomy". Just been watching it for the first time & a number of people spoke who've been through this major surgery have eventually been able to resume normal activities. Nonetheless, it'll be a bit of a major life changing experience to get my head around & get used to in the short term - or in other words getting p..... off takes on a new meaning

Bob, I had a customer who had had a "bag" for many years and she lived an active life. I never knew she had one till we got talking about one of my relatives who may have to eventually have that op and she confided in me to help me reassure my relative. I would not have had a clue had she not told me. I think the hard bit at the start is mentally adjusting.

O.K. So I was a wee bit peckish and decided, finally, on cooking a frozen pizza. 4 cheese. Decided to augment it so added mushrooms, onion and, in a moment now thought of as culinary madness, an innocuous looking red chili pepper. Now my nostrils are a tingle as are my fingertips. My tongue and throat should be ok by tomorrow, my ears are popping. If I was a man (or hirsute woman) where my moustache would be is aflame.
But at least I persevered and am not hungry anymore..

Well, I've just had a Cadbury's creme Easter egg so I'm not hungry either, in fact, at this time of the night, it probably wasn't a good idea, but I thought I should eat it before Good Friday started ...

    To Bob:

I'm only just getting the hang of this posting business, but I've kept up with your news and I'm also thinking of you and saying a prayer - I hope you feel you're not on your own.

Bought 4 chocolate Easter Bunnies for our grandchildren, intending to give them to them last weekend when all our family got together. Forgot to take them with me. Don't think they will be very good by the time we see them again so I had better eat them.
