Viv,
First of all, those results posted by LP would suggest to me that the SNP have done a deal with
the 'Independents'. They would only have to bring 4 of them on-board, to take control of NAC.
And that would shut labour and the tories out, but it makes more sense for them to get all 6
Independents on-side. Stops ANOTHER labour/tory marriage.
With some Independents 'on-board', this will ensure that certain local issues are not ignored,
which can only be good for North Ayrshire ? Time will tell.
Salmond can't close Hunterston OR fill the country with Wind Farms, he doesn't have that power.
The Scottish government, on the other hand, do. The SNP government have always stated that
they support 'energy from renewables' (not just Wind Farms), so the country will not be filled
with these eye-sore monstrosities.
The SNP have long been against this giant polluter, that is Hunterston.
They are not alone. They are supported, in this, by various bodies & organisations such as local
community groups, WWF Scotland, RSPB Scotland, Friends of the Earth, The Church of Scotland
AND the majority of folk who live in the Hunterston area.
Jobs are important, BUT NOT AT ANY PRICE.
People will get other jobs and new jobs will be created elsewhere in North Ayrshire,
but we only have ONE environment and we have a responsibility to look after it.
Interesting to note, the only people promoting the Hunterston Issue are Labour/Tory
people and some wee Tax dodger who lives on the Isle of Man.
