Anyone know where all the old local milestones are located in the and around the three towns? The only one I can think of at the moment is the one embedded in the wall of the old miners cottages on Boglemart Street in Stevenston - can't recall what was on it though.
I can't quite remember but seems to me there was one on the road out of Stevenston to Saltcoats that gave the miles to Saltcoats, think it was from the Cross out rather than the High rd.

There use to be one at the old "Toll stores",at the junction of Eglington Road and Dalry Road.(The Toll store is now the "Alpine Store".I bet Hughie can tell me why it is now called the Alpine Store(,another we historical question Hughie).Might as well fling in a couple more.Where were "Vernon Terrace and Inglefield Terrace. ??
Following my post of the milestone photographs on the "Shell Bridge" topic, I attach photographs of the milestone in Hill Street, (not Nineyard Street), Saltcoats. This stone is on the boundary wall of the former Mission Coast Home. The Stevenston "Stone", which is, in fact, Cast Iron, is situated in Boglemart Street, opposite The Grant Arms.
Hi, In McSherry's book of old Saltcoats there is a photo of the Mission Coast Homeand, it states its in Nineyard Street.Does any one know when it was changed to Hill Street. Regads, Sam.
