Morag, this action by the big companies gets on my goat. There are other ways of producing power which is more eco friendly, solar,wind, wave and thermal. I do think the wind farm behind Ardrossan is a scar on the landscape but has little impact on the environment.

L.P., I think most of the world's troubles can be blamed on the need for fuel / energy. Until we can wean ourselves off of(foreign) oil (primarily),we will never be free of middle eastern shenanigans, and until we learn to 'be green' we are a lost cause. As I've said before, my kids think I'm an old hippie because of my conservation, recycling and careful buying of fish etc (only non compromised species etc.) but I think they are gradually realising that we have to be goood stewards of the planet.
