Members, the following "how to tips" may prove helpful when using our forums. If you'd like us to add tips for some other feature relating to our forums you are welcome to request it through the following topic. Consider using our members' area to practice.

Quote Feature:
When you want to reply to a post using the quote feature, simple click on the Quote button above the post you are replying to - you will be presented with something like the following:

Edit out that part of the post between [ quote="Hughie"] and [ /quote] to leave only that part of the post you wish to quote. DON"T delete the square brackets or anything inside them.

There's little need to quote if your post immediately follows the one you are replying to - though for emphasise you may want to quote part of it.

Use the preview button to see if you've got it right before you continue with your reply.

Adding an Avatar
Click on User Control Panel top left. Select Profile then Edit Avatar next Display Gallery Select which category you want from the drop down menu. Select which avatar you want and click on Submit

You may also add an avatar of your choosing direct from your computer. After Edit Avatar click on Browse and navigate to where you have the avatar on your computer.

Note: The Maximum dimensions of avatars; width: 90 pixels, height: 90 pixels, file size: 6.00 KiB.

Linking to post within a topic
This is helpful if you wish to refer another member to a specific post within a large topic.
Go to the post in question.
At the top left of the post below Re: you'll see a little square.
With the left mouse button click on the square.
Copy the new URL address that appears at the top of the screen.
Paste it into the post you are compiling.

Refreshing a webpage
When you visit pages of a website, you might not be viewing the most recently updated version of the page. It's because of a system called ‘caching’ where a copy of the web pages you visit regularly are stored on your computer - makes it faster to view them when you visit again.

To ensure you are viewing the latest versions of the webpage try one of the following ways to refresh it:

Press the F5 button on your keyboard.
Press the Ctrl and F5 keys on your keyboard also forces a refresh.
Click the "Refresh" button in the web browser’s toolbar.
Click the "Refresh" button while holding down the shift key.

Tell a friend
Members will notice at the top right of the page when reading a post such as this, there is a Tell a Friend icon in the form of an envelope. If you feel a topic might interest others, feel free to tell them by clicking the envelope and entering their e-mail address - no need to add a link it will already be in the body of the email.
