The area around the castle isn`t too bad for tipping etc these days. It used to be really bad in the area where the caves are with people dumping anything and everthing but it`s not nearly as bad now.

My "moan" as you say is not a new topic.I am kickin the ball back to 1975--76.The area needed sorting out then.!!
So to the people locally who "whinge" it should be their problem to sort it out.
Sorry to hear about your predicament, it is the same in the north of england!!
Also if there are so many out of work locally, why do'nt they get up off their bums
and improve the area they live.
P.S. I am not a member or voter of the party in power!!

Hi here's a postcard I got recently. Interesting view of the bottom end looking towards the factory and Trelawney terrace.

Any idea when that photo was taken Jim? By the way, what is the building at the top right hand side up at the slip?

I seem to remember that the building was used as a wood store by I.C.I. I think it was part of the old iron works.
I remember that the left hand side as you look at it was accessible, and it looked like it was once a furnace.
My most vivid memory was that we had a "slug gun "fight and I was up on the top floor when I got shot in the face.
The pellet was embedded just under my nose, and it remained there for thirty odd years before I got it removed.
I still have it in a jar.
When I think back, I had 2 lucky escapes which would have cost me an eye, the other one being a dart fired from a gun which stuck in the flesh just to the side of my right eye.
